Finding My Flow State

In Finding Your Unicorn Space, Eve Rodsky writes about finding your flow state. My take on how she defines flow state as a place where time and outside influences become irrelevant, and you feel invigorated when you come out of the flow state. When I first read about this magical flow state and then when I listened to her talk about it on a podcast, I was perplexed at how one could become so engrossed in something where they lost all track of time.

And then, it happened to me. I think that I just found my flow state. Despite barely getting any sleep last night because I was up with my son, Joseph, who has croup, and then a busy day today, I just spent over an hour trying to figure out how to build the blog’s website. I’m exhausted and I just gave over an hour of precious sleep time to this project, and the magic of it is that it didn’t feel like any time at all!

And, that’s not to say that working on this website has been easy and enjoyable. I haven’t read directions or watched any videos because I feel like I should be able to figure it out, but I’m learning that what I’m trying to do is akin to beating my head against the wall. I’m going to have to put some time into learning how to do all of this, but I feel like I’ve found a unicorn in that the flow state really does exist.
